A CASE REPORT OF ANOREXIA NERVOSA ASSOCIATED WITH HYPOTHALAMIC DYSFUNTION AND BONE MARROW HYPOPLASIA

Abstract
The pathological process in anorexia nervosa contitutes a highly `complex interaction between psychological. forces, organic starvation-induced metabolic and endocrine changes, and individual¢¥s wish for self-expression. It is tempting to speculate that dysfunctional hypothalamic path-ways mediate, the faulty proprioception and may also be in some way involved in the evolution of the hyperactive behavior and the alert mental condition. The most common medical complications involve disturbance of electrolyte balance and cardiac and gastrointestinal functions, althouogh abnormalities may occur in virtually every system in the body. Hematological abnormalities include : normochromic-normocytic anemia, and bome marrow hypoplasia, together with a leukopenia and thrombocytopenia. We have report a case of anorexia nervosa associated with hypothalamic dysfunction and bone- marrow hypoplasia: in a 22 yr--old woman and. review about the organic aspect of anorexia nervosa.
